We Are Totally Serious

If Tiger Woods' recent scandal has taught us anything, it's that fans expect civility and decorum on and off the playing field. So perhaps it's fitting that tennis legend John McEnroe returns to town as the nation continues to heal from TigerGate. As the original bad boy of tennis, McEnroe was as well known for his on- and off-court temper (and his incredulous cries directed at the line judge) as he was for his unique style of service. He has mellowed a bit as he's entered his 50s (though he trades his prickly persona as a rent-a-car pitchman), and he comes to the Family Arena (2002 Arena Parkway, St. Charles) for the all-star matchup, John McEnroe vs. Jim Courier. Courier, a four-time Grand Slam winner, may be a bit younger than his opponent, but the two former first-ranked players should keep things lively. The match begins at 7 p.m., and tickets are $25.50 to $155.50. For more information, call 636-896-4200 or visit www.familyarena.com.
