Wear it Again

The world -- and in particular the United States -- creates so much trash very year, it's a good thing clever and creative people are finding new uses for it. The three fundamental R's for the 21st century are repurpose, renew, recycle; now you can wear that mantra on your sleeve. Literally. And American Trash is going to help you into the proper fit. American Trash is a fashion-design show that challenges its participating artists and designers to create wearable fashion pieces from discarded materials that would ordinarily fill dumpsters. In other words, don't chuck it, wear it -- with panache. American Trash happens at 2720 Cherokee (2720 Cherokee Street; tonight with the doors opening at 8 p.m. and the runway show commencing at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 to $20, with VIP options available.
