If the last time you visited the Saint Louis Zoo you arrived on a school bus with a packed lunch in hand, then you're due for a revisit. And rather than join the masses on an oh-so-popular weekend, try a Jammin' at the Zoo evening event instead -- the temps will be cooler, the crowds more manageable and mature (21 and up only), and the wine and beer will be flowing. Held from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, and Wednesday, August 28, zoo jams feature food for purchase (you can also pack a basket), and pours from 50-plus wineries and St. Louis microbreweries. There's also live music from multiple bands each night, including Paint the Earth (July 24) and Groovethang (August 28). Tickets cost $10 for general admission and $20 for a tasting package (all-you-can-sip from 6 to 8 p.m., while supplies last); parking is free for all. Call 314-646- 4771 to purchase tickets, and visit to learn more.
