What's Brewing? St. Louis.

Nattering nabobs of negativity claim that America doesn't make anything anymore (except crappy TV shows), but those people are dead wrong. St. Louis is in America, and St. Louis makes beer -- gallons and gallons of beer -- so America is doing just fine for itself. The St. Louis Heritage Brewers Festival celebrates Mound City's long and lagerific love affair with beer in all its forms, bringing together brewhauses such as Highlands, Schlafly, Square One, Cathedral Square and even a little concern called Anheuser-Busch for two days of tipplin' and sippin'. Tickets are $30 to $35 per session, and include a commemorative glass and unlimited sampling of 75 beers, ales and lagers. Sessions take place from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. or 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday (June 10 and 11; www.stlbrewfest.com) at the central fields of Forest Park.
