Who Could Hang a Name On You?

E.M. Lewis got off to a good start when she titled her play Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday after the chorus of one of the Rolling Stones’ best and most evocative songs. “She would never say where she came from/Yesterday don’t matter when it’s gone.” The Jagger/Richards lyrics suit the play, which relates the story of a character named Lynn. She reaches a breaking point in her life and decides to leave her home in rural Oregon -- and her family and husband, too -- to work on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska. HotCity Theatre stages the play that, despite appearances to the contrary, is billed as a comedy tonight (September 9) at 7 p.m. at the Kranzberg Arts Center in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Building (501 North Grand Boulevard).
