Who's Hungry?

Eating for charity

Taking someone out for an evening at Baileys' Chocolate Bar (1915 Park Avenue; 314-241-8100 or www.baileyschocolatebar.com) has to be one of the most romantic (food-related) gestures. The desserts and drinks at this Lafayette Square spot are sinfully sweet, and the pizzettas are delicious, too. But perhaps your idea of romance can be achieved over beers and bar food — no one ever said that the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street; 314-241-2337 or www.schlafly.com) couldn't also be loverly! And what about if you've had a hard time of it lately and you just crave comfort food? Trattoria Marcella's pillowy pasta can feel pretty nice in the old belly (3600 Watson Road; 314-352-7706 or www.trattoriamarcella.com) as can a sandwich from the Central West End's Companion Bakehouse (4651 Maryland Avenue; 314-352-4770 or www.companionstl.com). Mmmm, sandwiches, chocolate, beers, pasta — are you hungry yet? We are! Wanna know what's more delicious? Dining at any one of these yummy places — or at one of several others, including much-loved Vin de Set and Harvest — is an especially good idea tonight because they are all taking part in the United Way Taste of Giving (www.gennextstl.org). Each spot donates a percentage of sales to the worthwhile cause — so don't be shy! Go ahead and eat up! We'll be right there with you!
