Why Are Cadbury Eggs Laid by a Bunny?

And other Easter questions

There are thirteen official rules governing the Saint Louis County Parks' Adults-Only Egg Hunt, but none of them include the phrase "don't hit your brother." The annual eggstravaganza at Queeny Park (550 Weidman Road, Ballwin; call 636-391-3474 for more information) claims to be the nation's biggest egg hunt for the 21-and-older crowd. So no longer are Easter prizes limited to half-melted chocolates and squirrel-bitten sweets: At this event the eggs contain coupons for more than $10,000 in prizes each night! And the reward for retrieving one of the special, rare golden eggs — worth $100 or more — could buy you an awful lot of marshmallow Peeps. Required advance registration is $10 (at, and the egg hunts take place at 9 p.m. (you must arrive by 7:50 p.m.) on both Friday and Saturday night (April 14 and 15). Also, take note: These Easter expeditions are followed by something else you didn't have at your childhood hunts — a cash bar.

For the more traditional egg-hunters (kids three to five years old, that is), Des Peres Park (12325 Manchester Road, Des Peres) hosts another huge hunt on Saturday at 10 a.m. The special allure here? A photo op with the Easter Bunny himself (herself?)! No reservations are required, and the free event goes on rain or shine. Contact the Lodge Des Peres at 314-835-6150 for more information.
