Witches Brew

Calling all witchy women and magical men: Polish up your pointy shoes, and starch those pointy hats! Portents and premonitions, auguries and bodements announce the second annual St. Louis Witches Ball and Masque at the always-elegant Andre’s South banquet hall (4254 Telegraph Road, Oakville). Joking aside, this classy event helps to both skewer witch stereotypes and raise money for the St. Louis Pagan Picnic and the Clowder House Foundation. Upscale The Phantom of the Opera-style attire is recommended -- or at least some slick Labyrinth-era Bowie finery. If everyone wears a mask to the Masque, “Which Witch Is Which?” will be fun to play all the way from 8 p.m. until the witching hour! Tickets to the ball are $30 per person or $55 for an enchanted couple at www.stlwitchesball.org, and admission includes dinner, an open bar and dancing.
