LEGO has always been awesome, but they’re having yet another glow-up moment. The toy company is nearly 100 years old, and they’ve decided that it’s time to honor the GOATs of the soccer world, and if the promo content I’ve seen is to be believed, it’s way cooler than it has any right to be.

LEGO’s sports line isn’t completely new. They’ve already dipped their brick toes into the motorsports market by building 10 fully functioning F1 cars for the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. They also launched a replica FIFA World Cup Trophy set last month that was made up of 2,842 pieces, and ran $199.99. The trophies had a hidden compartment with an exclusive World Cup 2026 minifig inside of a globe. Basically, LEGO has seen what sports fans will do with their money, and said “bet.”
Their upcoming soccer collab will feature Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior (Vinicius Jr.). There are 9 sets total in the coming collection, ranging from Football Highlights ($29), to the FIFA World Cup Trophy ($199.99). Each set will have hidden easter eggs that nod to each featured player’s journey, and this will be the first time that each of the 4 players has appeared as a LEGO minifig. Fan-zone experiences are popping up worldwide, as they should! If you’ve reached “LEGO has turned you into a minifig” levels of fame and skill, that should be celebrated widely, and loudly. Truly, is there any higher achievement?
Let’s be so for real, these sets are going to be hotter than the absolute Hottest OnlyFans creators during a promo month. LEGO honoring these athletes is not just something that’s freaking cool and worth geeking out over (god knows I have been), this is a big cultural moment! Soccer is beloved the whole world over, and these are 4 of its biggest stars being honored in a way that has nothing to do with awards ceremonies and trophies. Well, except for the trophy that comes in a LEGO box.
Speaking of cultural moments, can we please take a moment to recognize how remarkable it is that LEGO, the company, is still privately owned after being around for nearly 100 years? LEGO was founded in Billund, Denmark in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, who made the ultimate dad joke with the name he gave the company. LEGO is derived from “LEg GOdt,” which means “play well,” and nearly a century later, people of all ages are still “playing well” with LEGO sets created by the family-owned company.
These sets are going to sell out faster than your local BBQ joint runs out of brisket, so if you want to guarantee you get one to call your own, head over to the LEGO site and pre-order now. The player sets will be available for in-store and online purchase on June 1, 2026. The World Cup hype is going to send orders through the roof, so if you’re going to have feelings about missing out, best to lock down your set now, and find a way to pass the time between now and June. Might I suggest kicking a soccer ball around?
