Somewhere deep in the Netflix crypt, a single executive wondered if there was a way to make Wednesday even more weird and iconic. The universe heard, and Lady Gaga will now be joining the crew at Nevermore Academy, terrorizing goth teens, and possibly even choreographing a dance number for the student body. To promote her new role on the smash hit, Lady Gaga appeared at Netflix’s Graveyard Gala, where she premiered her new song, appropriately titled The Dead Dance.

Netflix and Spotify teamed up and hosted their Graveyard Gala on August 28th, a Thursday, ironically enough. This spoopy party had it all: custom-made coffin-style seating, fog machines, creepy ambiance, and a surprise appearance by Lady Gaga — like a jump scare you actually want to be on the receiving end of. Gaga gave fans a sneak peek of her new track The Dead Dance, which… like. Is there a more perfect song for a show about crypt-keeping teens? Plus, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still doing the Wednesday dance from season one, and now we’ve got an official Lady Gaga track that sounds like it was recorded in a mausoleum?

Gimme it.

The song is officially being released TODAY (September 3rd), and fans like yours truly are spending the morning dusting off our Bad Romance and Abracadabra choreography so we’re ready to dance without pulling a muscle. The vibes of the new song are dark, theatrical, and — idk if “Gaga-core” is officially a thing — but it’s absolutely what the song feels like. The Dead Dance will be featured in Part 2 of Season 2, and it’s just the perfect soundtrack for chaos.

It’s hard to decide whether I’m more excited about The Dead Dance or the fact that Lady Gaga will be taking on the role of Rosaline Rotwood, a “mysterious Nevermore Academy teacher.” Both Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega have praised Gaga’s performance. Tim Burton called her a “natural fit,” which, I mean, tracks if you’ve ever looked at anyone he’s ever worked with before. Ortega said that it feels like Gaga “was always meant to walk the halls of Nevermore.” Considering that Ortega is Wednesday (in addition to being a producer on the show), that’s the highest possible compliment. Gaga’s character is powerful, eerie, and can probably hex your ex without lifting a finger. Mother Monster arrived in witch mode and basically became valedictorian of the creeptastic arts.

If you don’t agree that Lady Gaga’s perfect for Wednesday, I’m about to explain why it’s your turn to be wrong. She’s already got the fashion down pat — who else can turn a Victorian funeral gown into couture? Her energy is a little campy but also dark and unpredictable, and she’s already built a whole empire on weirdness. Wednesday’s character is all sarcasm and chaos, and Gaga is sarcasm and chaos with the added bonus of glitter.

Part 2 of Wednesday Season 2 is already shaping up to be a delightfully spooky experience. New songs, new teacher, and new drama. Will Gaga’s Rosaline shake things up for Wednesday and the rest of Nevermore Academy? I mean, obviously. This was destiny written in the fishnets. Lady Gaga belongs at Nevermore Academy, and I will entertain no objections at this time.
