A Fancy New Aldi Opened in This Week Tower Grove South

All of south city is pumped — because the brand-new Aldi (3865 Gravois Avenue, no phone) in Gravois Plaza has its grand opening today.

Aldi's discount grocery stores have become cult favorites of bargain shoppers and hipsters across the nation for their low prices, cheap dupes of name-brand items and habit of selling some funny products.

South city residents had been suffering through a sub-par Aldi experience with the old location at 3721 South Grand Boulevard for ages. But the company packed up the store and moved it a half-mile north, reopening as a fancy new-style joint. Now shoppers can forget about that sad old spot forever.

The new location is big, bright and beautiful, with wide aisles, lots of natural light and tons of fresh and organic products on display. It also has a big ol’ parking lot — another clear advantage on the old location.
