Food & Wine has some words about the St. Louis food scene — and they don't involve jokes about Provel.

Well, OK, the writer did still make one joke about Provel. But the rest of his conclusions should have the whole city blushing. "The food in St. Louis is seriously good right now," the story was titled — and it just gets better from there.

In short,
St. Louis in the last couple of years feels as if it has leapt rather decisively into the now, with a wave of innovation transforming the local dining landscape into something deliciously unrecognizable.
Among the places cited by author David Landsel in praise of the city's new food dominance? Guerrilla Street Food, our "vibrant little Bosnian restaurant scene" (Grbic, Lemmons and Balkan Treat Box), and then acclaimed newcomers Grace Meat + Three, Vicia, Nixta, Vista Ramen and Sardella.

The author has clearly done his homework — he notes that Nixta's Tello Carreon just gave his notice and that Vista Ramen is about to set up shop inside Earthbound Beer in addition to its storefront down the street.

For many, many reasons to be proud of the city's culinary strides in recent years, check out the Food & Wine piece. Or just go eat at one of the aforementioned restaurants. This time, the national press got it right.
