After five years on Cherokee Street, I Scream Cakes (2641 Cherokee Street) will be closing its doors for good after Halloween night.

That's according to owner Kerry Soraci, who broke the news in a Facebook post open to the public last night, writing,
welp....I regret to inform you that I Scream Cakes will be closing after Halloween. :'( That means, after today (open until 7), there will only be next Friday (3-8), Saturday (1:00-8:00), Sunday (noon-7), and Halloween (3-7) left to get your fill of our from-scratch, locally sourced, all natural ice cream!! I will also be at the last Schlafly Farmers Market this wednesday 4-7, and the last Tower Grove Farmers' Market next Saturday! I will be trying to work a way to keep the trucklet active April- September next year. I'm not sure about the cakes yet, but I will keep you posted. I do know that I WILL definitely be taking all of November off from all things iscream! Much LOVE and GRATITUDE for all your support!!! THANK YOU!!!! #cantsayididnttry #maybewecanhangoutnow
It's been a tough year for Soraci, who opened a second outlet in Maplewood in May, only to close it three months later. Plans to add boozy ice cream proved frustrating, and costly. She also had her brightly painted "trucklet" stolen in March, when a group of youths at her store distracted her, grabbed the keys and drove off.

The truck, however, was later recovered; in her post Soraci vows to bring it back next summer.

But if you're craving the whimsical ice cream that I Scream Cakes became known for, best not to delay — Soraci is vowing to actually take some time off this fall and winter. Since the shop is not open weekdays, next Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be your last shot to score Soraci's treats for now.
