Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk

It's always thoughtful when a band's name also provides a valuable public service. Thanks to Kansas City avant-pop act Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk, for example, we now know what not to feed a young pigeon if it wanders into the office around lunchtime. What we don't know, though, is how to take BBDDM as a band — but that's kind of the point. With song titles such as "Strum Strum Bang Bang" and "DoReMe," the group borrows heavily from the playbook of Broken Social Scene, and stirs off-kilter melodies and de-tuned guitars into an indie-pop froth. It's the kind of music that makes you think, if only to figure out what the hell's going on onstage. All this leaves just one more question — what do baby birds drink, anyway?
