Why you should care -- i.e., Koerber's bio -- after the jump.

Jim Koerber grew up in North St. Louis, digging the city’s music scene. He played sax with Gayle McCormick and the Klassmen featuring Bob Medley, then went on to play with Ike and Tina Turner (during the “Proud Mary”-era). Gayle went on to record with Smith (Baby It’s You).

While with Ike and Tina Turner, Jim appeared on the Johnny Carson Show and the Ed Sullivan Show. He was also with Ike and Tina when they opened for the Rolling Stones on their famous “Gimme Shelter” tour.

Jim last gig was last year at the popular Jefferson Barracks’ Blues on the Mississippi series when he was featured with the Soulard Blues Band. Currently, Jim runs his own delivery business.

Jim is in need of assistance because he was diagnosed with tongue cancer earlier this year.
