After becoming known for staunchly conservative, throwback hip-hop, the Jurassic 5 have finally taken some steps into this rap millennium. Though the same true-school aesthetic mostly prevails on this year's Feedback, J5 begrudgingly move forward by collaborating with Scott "Storchavelli" Storch ("Radio") and Dave Matthews ("Work It Out"); both songs turn out surprisingly well. Regardless of how their sound changes, though, their live show does not. Cut Chemist's departure from the group means fewer scratch/sampler/toy piano/drum-pad-rigged-school-desk jam sessions, but J5 is one of the most reliably exciting rap tickets around; Chali 2na and the gang translate their lyrical tag-team perfectly from album to stage. Resurgent Afrocentric rap legends X-Clan open.
