Less than a week after an unknown gunman shot an eleven-year-old boy in the head while he studied at home with his family, an eleven-year-old girl and her father are in the hospital after being chased down by a car and shot.

The man, 32, and his daughter left a White Castle on North Kingshighway around 3:11 a.m. Tuesday and noticed a black Dodge Charger following them after he turned onto Lexington Avenue. Shots rang out from the Charger, and the man tried to speed away, heading south on Norwood Avenue, according to police reports.

The Charger pursued the car for a short distance and then sped away.

Both the man and his daughter, whose names police have not released, were shot in the back and are in the hospital in critical but stable condition.

On March 26, eleven-year-old Antonio Johnson died at his south-side home when a gunman climbed on a ledge, aimed a gun into the living room and started firing. Police say they don't think Antonio was the gunman's true target, and they interviewed a teenage boy in the house who'd been shot before for more information.
