Two unidentified men in a black four-door sedan launched a daring drive-by shooting yesterday in broad daylight.

The suspects -- still on the loose -- pulled up along Fountain Park at the intersections of Euclid and Fountain Avenues yesterday around 1:30 p.m. and unleashed a hail of gunfire.

The men reportedly fired a total of 35 shots. Just three of the bullets found their intended target -- 20-year-old Gregory Thomas of the 1000 block of Hickory just south of downtown.

Those three bullets would prove deadly enough, with Thomas suffering wounds to the stomach, back and side. He was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
