Brad Pitt wishes he did not drop out of the University of Missouri.
Why? Because who would do such a foolish thing? What kind of guy would just give up on academics?
Pitt, who grew up in Springfield -- where his parents still live -- opens up about his loneliness and his unfinished academic career in the upcoming issue of Esquire.

Pitt, who was apparently studying journalism at Mizzou, has said he dropped out two weeks before he finished. Two credits left. One paper away from graduation.

He says in the Esquire interview -- which hits the stands next week -- that he wishes he had just finished his studies.

I'd get so far, and then want to do something else. I mean, I'm two credits short of graduating college. Two credits. All I had to do was write a paper. What kind of guy is that? That guy scares me -- the guy who always leaves a little on his plate.
Quite scary! And clearly a huge mistake, Brad. What were you thinking?
Because we know you readers are now very curious about Pitt's interest in journalism, here's a transcript excerpt from a past interview with NPR's Terry Gross of Fresh Air when he spoke about his time at Mizzou (via Poynter):
TG: You studied journalism in college. What did you expect to become?BP: I wasn't really sure. i was just investigating for myself -- they have one of the best J-schools in the country.
TG: This is, where?
BP: University of Missouri.
TG: OK.
BP: It just came to the time of graduation and everyone -- all my friends were committing to jobs -- and I just realized I was not ready for that yet.... I packed up my car. I didn't graduate -- I had two weeks left -- and I moved out to LA.
TG: Why didn't you finish those two weeks? I mean, two weeks is a blink of an eye.
BP: ....I just felt I was done; I was done with it. I knew where I wanted to go. I had a direction. I always liked those moments of epiphany when you have the next destination.
