Here's why your package from Humboldt didn't arrive in time for Christmas: Sergeant Larry J. Davis of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department enjoys his job so much that he allegedly took work home with him on a regular basis. Davis is assigned to the Central Patrol Division-Special Operations Group, which conducts investigations into gang activity and illegal drug distribution. Davis apparently went above and beyond on the latter front, as he visited package delivery company branches in his official capacity to seize parcels that were suspected of containing marijuana, then headed home to crack open the boxes and repackage the weed for re-sale with the help of his civilian brother, Linus R. Davis.

That sort of entrepreneurial spirit gets you indicted by the United States Attorney's Office, as the brothers found out this morning. The Davis brothers each face one felony count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and one felony count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, both of which carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Metropolitan Police issued a statement noting that the department cooperated fully with the FBI's investigation, and that Sgt. Davis has been suspended effective immediately.

Fortunately, he has that second job to fall back on. Oh, fuuuuu ...
