Danielle Mack-Jones, a 27-year-old St. Louis County resident, is accused of stabbing to death a neighbor in her apartment complex -- and then stealing two televisions. Police announced today that she had officially been issued warrants, a major step in their investigation into a Christmas Eve homicide.

The victim, 39-year-old Freeman Whitfield, had been found stabbed to death in his apartment on December 24 last year.

A spokesman tells Daily RFT that the suspect knew the victim and lived in the same apartment complex -- but there aren't any more specific details yet about their relationship. How'd police find her?

After a St. Louis County Police investigation, officials traced the incident to Mack-Jones, who they say ultimately confessed to the stabbing. She was taken into custody and issued warrants yesterday, police say.

Mack-Jones, who lives on Ventura Drive in north county, is facing charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action -- as well as one count of stealing under $500. The two televisions she swiped were from the apartment, a spokesman tells us.

A $250,000 cash bond has been issued. And Mack-Jones has a criminal history, the Post-Dispatch notes. She was out on bond on another theft case in which she was accused of stealing a credit card in St. Louis County -- a felony charge.

Here's the full alert from county police sent out this morning:

On Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorneys' Office issued warrants on Danielle C. Mack-Jones, 27 years of age, of the 9600 block of Ventura in St. Louis, Missouri, 63136 for one count of Second Degree Murder, one count of Armed Criminal Action, and one count of Stealing Under $500. A $250,000 cash only bond has been issued...

Warrants were issued after officers from the St. Louis County Police Department North County Precinct found the victim, 39 year old Freeman Whitfield, stabbed to death in his apartment on December 24, 2012. After further investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department Division of Criminal Investigation, Jones, who knew the victim and lived in the same apartment complex, was taken into custody and confessed to the stabbing death.
