Laclede's Landing Flash Mob Turns Violent: Sixteen-Year-Old Shot, Now Faces Pot Charges

There was more gun violence at Laclede's Landing over the weekend -- and the victim, who survived, will now face drug charges, police say.

As we've reported, there have been several deadly incidents of gun violence at the Laclede's Landing MetroLink station in St. Louis.

A sixteen-year-old victim was hit over the weekend in what officials are describing as a "flash mob" -- and in response police are urging youth to stay away from Laclede's Landing late at night.

The official metro police report says that the shooting took place at the 200 block of Washington Avenue in the downtown landing area where officers responded around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday night.

Upon arrival, they found a sixteen-year-old man who had been shot in the left foot. The victim, whom police have not identified, told police he was in the parking lot on North Second Street and Washington Avenue when he heard shots:

"He then felt something hit his foot, and realized he had been shot. The victim stated he did not see who or where the shots were coming from," the report says.

He was transported to the hospital for treatment -- and once he was there, police found he had marijuana on him, which will land him possession charges. He was then released to his parents.

A metro police spokeswoman tells Daily RFT that officials labeled the incident as some sort of "flash mob" in reference to the fact that there was "some social-media connection to that group." (The group had reportedly planned to meet there via social media.)

Police officials urge teens not to hang out or gather in that area late at night -- a situation which can be come especially dangerous when they have guns on them.

In February, some sort of "disagreement" between two men prompted a fatal shooting at Laclede's Landing and less than a month later, a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death in the same location.

Here's a KSDK (Channel 5) report from the scene, followed by the full police summary.
