Show-Me Institute spokeswoman Jenifer Roland tells Daily RFT that the organization anticipated a move for a while and with ten full-time employees and a part-time worker had outgrown its digs in downtown Clayton.
The new office is at 4512 West Pine.
"We've joked that moving to the city would be a motivating factor (in the group's effort to do away with the city's one-percent earnings tax)," says Roland. "But the truth is that many of our employees live in the city, so they're already paying the tax."
One proponent of the move was financier Rex Sinquefield, the founder of Show-Me Institute who lives in the city nearby the new office.

"Rex wanted to drop by the office more often, and this gives him the chance," says Roland.
The Show-Me Institute recently shuttered its mid-Missouri branch in Columbia, consolidating that office with the one here in St. Louis.
Last month Daily RFT broke news that a grand-jury is looking into allegations that a Show-Me Institute employee embezzled a large sum of money from the agency.
Roland tells Daily RFT that the move from Clayton has nothing to do with that investigation. Simply put, the agency needed larger space, she says.
