St. Louis-Based Groin Protector Nutshellz Will Be Featured on CNBC

Local junk guardians Nutshellz will get a shot at the big time this season on CNBC's West Texas Investors Club.

Yes, these St. Louis-based guardians of men's delicates will have a shot at the big time on CNBC's investor/entrepreneur show, in which host Mike "Rooster" McConaughey (eldest brother of Matthew McConaughey, alright, alright, alright) and Wayne "Butch" Gilliam meet with entrepreneurs looking to find investors for their products.

Nutshellz' prototype, created in High Ridge, Missouri, shot out from creator Jeremiah Raber's mind after he watched a popular UFC fighter lose while trying to "protect his marbles." Raber told RFT he felt like the fighter couldn't focus on the fight — but he thought there must be a better way to protect men's downstairs in times of need. 

With that came Nutshellz: Kevlar-enforced protective cups for men whose marbles regularly find themselves in danger. 

NutShellz Co-owner Matt Heck says he and Raber hope to raise $300,000 through the show.

The Level I and Level II Kevlar Nutshellz are priced at $79.99 and $140 respectively. The site recommends the cups for athletes, cops and military men. Level I is recommended for athletes, while Level II is recommended for those whose delicates are even more frequently in the line of fire.

"The original inspiration for Nutshellz was to create a better groin protector than anyone else ever had – to make a more anatomically correct shape that perfected the ergonomics allowing athletes to perform irregular movements like roundhouse kicks or hockey crossovers without restricting the athlete’s mobility which hinders performance and leaves him vulnerable to serious injuriesm," Heck says.

Nutshellz's YouTube channel features several cringe-worthy videos of projectiles being fired at the protective cups, including one such video showing a shot from a .357 Magnum Handgun being absorbed by the cup.


West Texas Investors Club's second season will premiere tomorrow at 9 p.m. on CNBC, although it's not clear which episode the cups will make an appearance in. In the mean time, you can brush up on the backstory by watching Raber get shot in the balls to prove his product is bullet-proof. Impressive?
