"Everyone in the fire department pretty much lives on coffee," says Bobenhouse

On top of his night shift as a paramedic with the St. Louis Fire Department, 26-year-old downtown resident Neil Bobenhouse is a singer-songwriter who goes by the nom de guerre Maxwell James.

With so much action in their lives, and very little sleep to go along with it, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs drink a lot of coffee. So Bobenhouse took it upon himself to enter this year's Folgers Jingle Contest, which was launched by the coffee company in order to enhance a marketing platform already known for its musical slogan. The winner will take home $25,000.

See Bobenhouse's entry after the jump, and be prepared for awesomeness.

Bobenhouse shot the video with his colleagues over the course of a couple weeks. We especially love some of the scenes in front of the firehouse (Engine House 14, in Tower Grove East).

Since his video went viral, Bobenhouse has gotten a few bits of fan mail, but the paramedic keeps things in perspective. "The supermodels haven't been calling yet," Bobenhouse tells Daily RFT. "I'm still waiting for Nelly to call me, too."
