The true test of any band's lasting power is its sophomore album, which represents the group's ability to follow up a successful debut and predicts its potential. Orlando's Anberlin
released their second album, Never Take Friendship Personal
, on Tooth & Nail in February -- and while driving guitar lines and addictive hooks remain from their 2003 debut, Blueprints for the Black Market
, an infusion of highly personal lyrics display the band's progression. As always, the quartet sounds like what would happen if MxPx and the Starting Line had a baby, with a bit of pop that's heavy on rock & roll harmony. But Anberlin promises to stay the course with its high-energy melodic performances: You'll probably end up singing along halfway through each song, or at least screaming along when the boys call for crowd response.
Show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18; call 314-726-6161 for more information.
