Bob Mould

Tuesday, September 27; Mississippi Nights (914 North First Street)

In some circles, Bob Mould is a guitar god. His legendary 1980s punk power trio, Hüsker Dü, wrote corroded pop songs and recorded double albums in record time (with rumored help from drugs). But it wasn't just volume, speed, acid and overdrive that altered the sound of Mould's Gibson Flying V; it was his frustrated anger that rattled chords, literally and figuratively. Yet a few years ago -- to the dismay of many of his fans -- he began dabbling in electronica, forsaking guitars almost entirely. But this summer's Body of Song melds his interests in both genres -- and he'll even be performing tunes from Hüsker Dü and his '90s band Sugar on this tour! As if that weren't enough, super-drummer Brendan Canty (of Fugazi fame) is part of Mould's touring band.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $16 to $18; call 314-421-3853 for more information.
