Overview: Schlafly's Maplewood location, Schlafly Bottleworks, is the brewing company's second location, with a surprisingly wide array of vegetarian options. The Bottleworks does not serve your typical bar food -- for starters, you won't find any fried foods on the menu. The restaurant also makes most of its food from scratch, plucking many ingredients from the huge garden in back.
Highlights: The "Bottleworks Curry" ($11.75) is pretty authentic -- yellow curry sauce is tossed with broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, tofu and cashews with a whole wheat rice blend. The curry is a filling serving for vegetarians, and a fairly impressive version of the classic Thai dish.
Schlafly Bottleworks' grilled portabello sandwich ($9.50) is humongous: a marinated and grilled portabello, provolone, spinach and roasted garlic-green olive mayo are sandwiched between a wheat bun. The grain blend side is perfect and light, the perfect balance to the big flavors in the sandwich.
Other favorites include the chipotle black bean burger ($9.25) with spinach, Gouda, sriracha aioli on a wheat bun; and the pesto cheese ravioli ($15.25) served in a tomato cream sauce.
