Forget flowers, or bath salts, or that Coach bag on deep, deep discount. What Mom really wants for Mother's Day is to spend time with you. And no, she's not just saying that.

So what's a well-meaning kid to do? Brunch, of course! Take Mom out for some eggs benedict and a mimosa or two, and she'll feel loved, while you'll feel pleasantly buzzed. Everyone wins.

Here are seven St. Louis restaurants offering specials for Mother's Day brunch. What are you waiting for? Make a reservation today before the good spots are gone.

1. Cucina Pazzo 392 East Euclid; 314-696-8400 The name of this Central West End restaurant translates to "Crazy Kitchen," but it's really nothing of the sort. We promise! The space, which includes three light-filled rooms, is stylishly rustic, with exposed brick and plenty of wood, while the food is mostly riffs on Italian classics. They'll be serving Mother's Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu remains a la carte, and options include lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes, stuffed focaccia French toast or (if Mom isn't into gorging herself) an egg white omelette with winter greens, fontina, mushroom, bell pepper, tomato and red onion. Even that dish, though, has a touch of decadence: It comes with a side of pesto home fries. Yum!

2. Bixby's 5700 Lindell Boulevard; 314-361-7313 The restaurant in the Missouri History Museum is the perfect place to take a stylish mom -- in the light, airy and classy dining room, she'll feel right at home. Bixby's has a new spring menu -- and, for Mother's Day, three seatings: 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Adults can partake of brunch for $34.75 each, which includes coffee and iced tea. Booze, naturally, is extra. Online reservations aren't available for Mother's Day, so plan to pick up the phone if this is the option to make your mom smile.

3. Cielo 999 North Second Street; 314-881-5759 First things first -- Cielo, the restaurant at the Four Seasons in downtown -- isn't cheap. Hey, what do you expect when you're getting a soaring view (the restaurant is eight stories above the city) in addition to some of the best Italian food in town? Mother's Day is no exception: Brunch is $90 per adult, and $35 for kids ages 5 to 12. But what you get for that money is likely the best brunch in town if you're into both quality and quantity. Cielo offers not only the expected carving stations, but also bottomless mimosas and bloody marys, complimentary valet parking, and an arts and craft station so you can make Mom a homemade card. They think of everything, don't they?
