New Adult Coloring Book Shows Off the Wonders of Route 66

St. Louis illustrator Jo Ann Kargus' first adult coloring book showed off the wonders of the Gateway City — with 50 intricately illustrated landmarks, including the Vess soda bottle, Crown Candy Kitchen and Ted Drewes.

But for Kargus' newest coloring book, St. Louis is just one stop along the route — Route 66, that is.

The book, a new release from Reedy Press, follows the historic route from its origin in Chicago all the way to Santa Monica, swinging through St. Louis along the way. Familiar stops include that giant catsup bottle in Collinsville, Illinois, and the Coral Court Motel in Marlborough, in south St. Louis County — "the no-tell motel with a touch of class."

Kargus, an architectural illustrator, grew up in St. Louis County and now lives in Imperial, Missouri. This is her second time teaming up with Reedy Press, the south St. Louis publisher that was also responsible for St. Louis Splendor. That book sold out in just six weeks and quickly scored a second print run.

Route 66 Splendor is available at local shops as well as online; visit Reedy Press' website for more info.
