Film is a ghost that haunts, enlightens and informs our times; the medium between the present and a world long since vanished. German-born video artist Caspar Stracke's new exhibit has, sans seance, resurrected the spirit of a New York City that passed away a long time ago. No Damage uses snippets of more than 80 films shot during the last eight decades to compose a document of the changing face of New York City's architecture — some dearly departed, some still standing — and the emotional impact these structures' comings and goings have had on its residents. No Damage remains on display through Saturday, December 4, in Gallery 210 on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-5976 or www.umsl.edu/~gallery). The exhibit is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
