Tom Kiefer: Pertenencias / Belongings
When: Wednesdays, Fridays-Sundays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and Thursdays, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Continues through Dec. 19 2021
Tom Kiefer photographs objects that once belonged to migrants and were seized and discarded by US border officials. The people who carried these items are bodily absent, but their stories are encoded in the objects, challenging us to examine our assumptions about what—and whom—we consider “sacred.” The exhibition invites reflection on what it means to possess and what it means to lose, and what it means to belong.
Exhibition texts are available in both English and Spanish.
MOCRA is open Wed, Fri, Sat, and Sun, 11 am - 4 pm, and Thurs 11 am - 7 pm.
