Overview: Paul and Wendy Hamilton's first restaurant is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Eleven Eleven Mississippi concentrates on cuisine predominantly from Tuscany and the owners make sure to be inclusive of everyone's diet, including two special menus for vegans and those with a gluten intolerance.
Highlights: Eleven Eleven Mississippi's crispy butternut squash and mushroom fritters ($8.99) are a crowd favorite, garnished with thyme remoulade and a balsamic reduction. If you're ordering an entree you can split this appetizer, but it is quite hard to share such a lovely fried duo.
The restaurant's wild mushroom and pecorino polenta ($15.59) is loaded with spinach, artichokes, parmigiano and, as the dish's name suggests, a crazy amount of mushrooms. The perfect dish for vegetarians, and gluten-free to boot. Meat-eaters can add a protein of their choice for just a couple more bucks.
Another favorite is Eleven Eleven's eggplant parmesan ($14.79), which is stacked high (kind of like lasagna) with marinara sauce, spinach and fresh mozzarella.
