Chipotle comes to midtown St. Louis.

Late last week a Gut Check tipster sent us a note that the Chipotle Mexican Grill (212 South Grand Boulevard; 314-342-9919) inside the iconic Mid-Century Modern "flying saucer" on South Grand Boulevard near Saint Louis University was days away from opening. According to our burrito-loving informant, Chipotle gave away coupons for free burritos last week, and was unofficially open for business to select coupon-holding customers on Friday, March 1.

The following day Chipotle officially announced the location's opening via a Facebook post.

As previously reported by Gut Check, the "flying saucer" that formerly housed Del Taco has been divided into two separate restaurants: Starbucks, which opened in September 2012, and now Chipotle Mexican Grill.

This marks the first Chipotle restaurant to open within the St. Louis city limits. Hours of operation are Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
