It's been a busy couple of weeks for restaurant news in St. Louis. Here are a couple of items that our friends around town have mentioned:

Joe Bonwich of the Post-Dispatch reports that Via Vino is now open at 10427 Clayton Road in Frontenac. Via Vino is the latest offering from Michael Del Pietro, right next-door to his Sugo's Spaghetteria. Described on its website as a "contemporary wine bar with global cuisine," Via Vino offers a menu of small plates (cheese, oysters, mussels, housemade gnocchi) and a few entrées.

That's not all for Del Pietro. Next summer, he plans to open Trattoria Spezie at 6118 Delmar Boulevard. A preview menu is already available on its website. It appears quite similar to the model of Sugo's and its Chesterfield sibling, Babbo's Spaghetteria.

Meanwhile, Sauce Magazine reports that Gelato di Riso will close its location at 4663 Maryland Avenue in the Central West End. The original location at 5204 Wilson Avenue on the Hill remains open. A third location in Warson Woods closed earlier this year.
