On Monday, September 26, Salt (4356 Lindell Avenue; 314-932-5787) will officially kick summer to the curb and welcome autumn with a sour beer and wild game dinner.

Salt's Bar Manager, Matt Obermark, and Morgan Street Brewery Assistant Brewmaster Chris Shea worked with Salt's chef/owner Wesley Johnson to create food and beer pairings that would be unique as well as balanced. "I've been looking forward to doing a project with Chris Shea for some time." Johnson says. "The fall weather is an exciting time, and I'm looking forward to pairing some great beers and great food."

The menu is intense, featuring food that you could imagine a caveman (or friendly local gamesman) clubbing over the head and serving with beer that is difficult to pronounce. Braised rabbit will be paired with Haandbryggeriet Hesjeol Ale; brined wild boar, paired with Trois Dames Grand Dame Oud Bruin. The five-course meal ends with a sweet plum pudding and Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ale la Roja.

Reservations are limited to 30 at $75 per person, including tax but not gratuity. A credit card is required to hold the reservation. Make sure you don't flake out -- no shows who fail to cancel within 72 hours of the dinner will be charged a $20 fee.
