Taste Wood Fired Fare Changes Name

Eagle-eyed (and apparently omnipresent) George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine reports that Taste Wood Fired Fare (1201 Strassner Drive, Brentwood; 314-644-2772) has changed its name to TwinOak Wood Fired Fare.

Casey Friedrichs, who owns the restaurant with his twin brother, Curt, confirms the change to Gut Check. "We're in the process," he says, adding that the full change will take 60-90 days to be complete. He acknowledges that the change was made in part to "eliminate confusion with other restaurants." That other restaurant, of course, would be Gerard Craft and Adam Altnether's Taste (4584 Laclede Avenue; 314-361-1200).

As to the new name, Friedrichs tells Gut Check the name is a nod to both him and his twin brother as well as the Missouri oak wood used in the restaurant's signature oven, in which all of its hot fare is cooked.
