After a slight delay, the Good Pie (6665 Delmar Boulevard) is finally open in the Loop. The pizza place from the guys at the late, lamented Little Country Gentleman closed in Midtown last August. Luckily for us, its new spot is right here in U. City.

The Good Pie opened Wednesday, February 26 for dinner service at 5 p.m. It has a shortened menu, plus beer; cocktails won't be served until as late as next week. Unfortunately that means you won't get a taste of LCG bartender Jeffrey Moll's classic drinks and house specialties just yet. Also on the staff from LCG is chef John Messbarger, who will be working on house-cured meats and pasta.

Space Architects designed the new location, which includes an herb wall where many of the herbs used on the pizzas, salads and pastas are grown. Expect yummy Neapolitan-style pizzas and off-the-menu pastas to go with Messbarger's drinks, which expand on the LCG offerings. Plus, the Good Pie's got a Ms. Pac Man machine.

Hours this week will be dinner-only, beginning at 5 p.m. Check for updates on the Good Pie's Facebook page.
