So the American Institute for Cancer Research has released a massive new study detailing all the dietary factors that can cause cancer. (MarketWatch)

The report's recommendations are sensible, for the most part: limit consumption of red meat and alcohol, for example. Nothing we haven't known (and, uh, ignored) for a long time.

That said, one of the study's recommendations is an absolute bombshell, especially for Gut Check:

The panel specifically advocated abstinence from all processed meats, such as bacon, ham and other lunchmeats. They were unable to find a level of consumption that could be considered safe.

No bacon? At all? My God. I don't even know where to begin.
