- We learned only in September that Abby's Shell Corner Cafe had opened at 1221 Locust Street, inside the same building as and just across the lobby from Sen Thai Asian Bistro (1221 Locust Street; 314-436-3456). A Gut Check operative passed along word this week that the restaurant might have closed already, and when we visited to the building this morning, it was not open as scheduled.

We have a call in to the restaurant for confirmation. More as we learn it.

- Evan Benn of the Post-Dispatch reports that a new beer bar called the Crafty Chameleon plans to open at 1382 Clarkson Clayton Center in Ellisville. According to Benn, the new bar will feature some 40 beers on tap and several hundred in bottles and cans.

- Ligaya Figueras of Sauce passes along word of a new Indian restaurant in the Metro East: Taj Indian Cuisine (138 North Main Street, Edwardsville, Illinois; 618-655-0586). According to Taj Indian Cuisine's Facebook page, the restaurant is open for lunch 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. daily and for dinner 5-9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5-10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
