Update: (Tuesday, September 25, 1:40 p.m.) Sunland Inc., the maker of the Trader Joe's peanut butter referenced in the original post, has expanded the voluntary recall of its almond and peanut butter products due to the risk of salmonella contamination, the company announced yesterday in a press release via the FDA.
The recall now includes almond and peanut butter sold under multiple brand names, including Sunland's own brand and Archer Farms. View the complete list of recalled Sunland almond and peanut butter products. The recall includes all products on that list with a sell-by date between May 1, 2012, and September 24, 2012.

What's that peanut butter you're spreading on your sandwich this morning? Is it Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter? If so, you'd better put your knife down.
Trader Joe's on Saturday announced, via the FDA, a voluntary recall of its Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter because of a potential for salmonella contamination.
The Trader Joe's press release states, "At this time, no confirmed illnesses directly linked to this product have been reported to Trader Joe's".
However, in a separate news release, the FDA reports that the Trader Joe's peanut butter is "possibly linked" to a strain of salmonella (specifically, salmonella bredeny) that has so far sickened 29 individuals in eighteen states.
