Vote for St. Louis' Most Overrated Italian Restaurant: Finals

Aug 14, 2012 at 12:01 pm

Our call for nominations for St. Louis' most overrated Italian restaurants didn't generate nearly as many submissions as we expected. (Come on, folks. We know how jaded you really are.) Still, a few names popped up, so we'll skip right to the finals.

St. Louis' Most Overrated Italian Restaurant: The Finalists

Cunetto House of Pasta (5453 Magnolia Avenue; 314-781-1135)

milkshakes: Cunetto's. I had the worst pasta ever there. Came completely drowned in a boiling hot cream sauce, but the unrecognizable meat mixture inside was ice cold. Probably won't go back anytime soon.

Rigazzi's (4945 Daggett Avenue; 314-772-4900)

scrdn: Go to Rigazzi's if you need someone to cook Chef Boyardee for you

Tony's (410 Market Street; 314-231-7007)

eaterSTL: From its reputation you would think it is worthy of a Michelin star or two or three. In fact, it is reasonable quality, but not outstanding, food; absolutely no creativity or inspiration in the menu; mediocre service; antiquated atmosphere; I could go on and on.

Zia's Restaurant (5256 Wilson Avenue; 314-776-0020)

Mr_H: Zia's. Overly sugared red sauce and "alfredo sauce" that has the taste and consistency of watered-down Elmer's Glue.
