World's Fair Donuts Reopens

Doughnut lovers, our long national nightmare is over. World's Fair Donuts (1940 South Vandeventer Avenue; 314-776-9975) has reopened after a two-week break necessitated, according to the sign posted on the front door, by an car accident.

I've been trying to contact the owners Terry and Peggy Clanton for more details on what happened, but the phone has been busy -- fans checking in, I wager -- every time I've called. Here is a comment from Charles that was left yesterday, July 5, on the post about its being closed.

I just went by there today and saw they were open again, though Peggy was wearing a neck and back brace. She told me they had been rear-ended on highway 40 on their way to open up the store by a driver who fell asleep at the wheel.
