Jill Andrews isn't exactly nomadic, but she drifts between places: the coffeehouse and the still house, the foothills and the boulevards, the honky tonk and the confessional. She's not looking for a home. After leaving the Americana band the everybodyfields, and with it her partner Sam Quinn, she married, became a mother and released one sparkling, flawless eponymous EP of (mostly) acoustic heartache with no regrets. Her music isn't fashionable. There are no glitches, no beats, no tortured pretense, just a voice and a guitar and what simple backing the songs — ranging from timeless country themes of the urban alienation, intimations of grace and the unsimple pleasures of friendship and love — need. Andrews' delicate and soulful country folk may be little known, but time and talent are on her side.
