Mumford & Sons second full-length, Babel, will be out on September 25. Many things characterize the British band: Banjos, sheepskin, Jesus and crescendos, for example. But It is also a a group that has maintained an almost strange grounding. It is not an exaggeration to call Mumford & Sons among the most visible, commercially successfully contemporary rock bands (where rock is defined so loosely as to describe anything involving guitars). Yet that's not how the quartet behaves. The recently completed Gentlemen of the Road tour is a testament to M&S's commitment to staying small and impractical, and today we bring you news of a similarly unusual gesture, and this time you don't have to drive any farther than Vintage Vinyl.

To celebrate the release of Babel, twelve record stores in the US will give away one test pressing of the vinyl. There are twelve in existence. One of them will find a new home right here on Delmar. The other stores with the extremely, extremely limited release are in Nashville, West Babylon, Portland, Brighton, Orlando, Boise, Raleigh, Baltimore, Denver and Austin.
In addition to the giveaway, VV will host a listening party and midnight sale of Babel. The full announcement from our friends down the street:
A few hours late but here is the big listening party announcement ---- next Monday, September 24th, Vintage Vinyl - St. Louis will be hosting a listening party for the new Mumford and Sons record, "Babel". We will be doing a Midnight Sale listening party starting with the record at 11:00PM. After the listening party we will be giving away a "Babel" TEST PRESSING which will be ONE OF TWELVE in existence!!! There will be free Schlafly Beer on hand during the party and the LP, CD and Deluxe CD will be available and on sale starting at midnight!
