A 22-year-old man is in custody following a high-speed chase through Illinois and Missouri that ended in St. Louis yesterday.

According to the St. Louis police department an officer in south city tried to pull over the suspect in south city for a traffic violation. The man fled the scene, though his car was soon spotted by undercover cops in north city. When the vehicle left city limits, the St. Louis police radioed for help from other jurisdictions and a high-speed chase (reaching speeds of 120 m.p.h.) was underway.

At the intersection of Farlin and Cora in north St. Louis the man barely slowed down when he pushed a 25-year-old female passenger out of the vehicle and drove off. The woman is reportedly six months pregnant and was treated for cuts and bruises. The suspect -- who police have yet to identify -- was arrested a short time later, hiding in the closet of his north city home in the 4500 block of Harris.
