Two teens have been arrested and charged with beating a Maplewood cell phone merchant in the face with a hammer and stealing three cell phones.

On Sunday, county prosecutors charged Teresa M. Moss, an 18 year-old from Maplewood, and Arvell Pruitt, a 19-year-old from Hillsdale, with assault and robbery.

The incident occurred back on Dec. 19 between 7 and 8 pm, police say, when an employee from Wireless Connect at 7207 Manchester Road was closing up shop.

The two teens attacked the victim and bashed his face with a hammer so hard that his eye swelled shut. They also kicked him and took three cell phones he had with him in a bag.

Online court records show that both were arrested on Sunday. Patch reports they've already admitted to their actions while under interrogation, and that the victim was able to pick them out of a lineup anyway.
