Police say a woman armed with a rifle walked into the BP gas station on Salt Lick Road near I-70 in St. Peters at 2:30 a.m. last night. She demanded cash and lottery tickets, which the clerk gave her. The woman then fled eastbound on I-70.

Not long after the robbery, police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the woman's car, and attempted to pull her over. The woman then allegedly fled, leading police on a chase that exceeded 100 mph at times.

The woman eventually came to a halt on Fifth Street in St. Peters. Pursuing officers from St. Peters and St. Charles police arrested her on the spot. They found an undisclosed amount of cash and the lottery tickets in the vehicle. Police did not say whether any of those scratchers were winners.

The woman's name has not been released at this time, pending formal charges.
