A Slew of Blue

Indian dance does more than just enchant you with its rhythmic, serpentine movement — it also tells a story. Take Dances of India's upcoming performance, Rhapsody for the Blue Gods: This concert presents the sagas of Rama and Krishna, two of the most honored Hindu deities, through dance and spoken word. And while you may not be that familiar with these stories (and even if you are), you most certainly will recognize the music, as Rhapsody for the Blue Gods is set to the George Gershwin classics "An American in Paris" and "Rhapsody in Blue." See this original East-meets-West show all weekend at DeSmet Jesuit High School (233 North New Ballas Road, Creve Coeur); performances take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday (November 10 through 12). Tickets cost $15 to $18. For more information about how to make a purchase in advance, call 314-997-0911.
