While the guardians of the radio airwaves debate the content of Britney Spears' new "song," they ignore the most offensive element of the matter: It's a facile jumble anchored by a terrible vocal performance. If you want to hear a song breathe, if you long to hear a song dance — if you are pining to hear a song actually sung and not dribbled out like baby's pabulum, here's your chance. Cabaret St. Louis presents Liz Callaway with accompanist Alex Rybeck at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday (February 5 and 6) at the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.thesheldon.org). Known for her skill as a Sondheim interpreter and her graceful delivery of the music's nuances, Callaway can also crescendo the big moments and make them feel intimate. Tickets are $40.
